The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is located about 50 kilometers north of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines. Located only an hour flight from Manila, it is one of the world’s longest underground river – whole 8.2 km. One of the river's distinguishing features is that it emerges directly into the sea, and its lower portion is subject to tidal influences. The area also represents a significant habitat for biodiversity conservation.

Most corals also contain zooxanthellae (pronounced zo-zan-thel-y), a single-celled algae that live inside the coral animal and help to supply it with food.
