A Massive Character Tag

Creative Artist has tagged anyone who wants to do this massive character tag, and I accepted the challenge. Here are the rules:

1. I pick three characters
2. I make my characters answer these questions
3. I tag three people

I'm going to add a fourth character, just because I can. :)

My characters are Eldra (my MC), Daymond (my sometimes-MC/antihero), Gio (one of Eldra's comrades), and Eleriff (Eldra's potential love interest -- but don't tell them that).

NOTE: I wrote some of this late, late at night, so if some answers sound weird, blame it on that.

Do you want a hug?
Eldra: *glares at Daymond* Stay away from me.
Daymond: Depends on who it's from... Actually, no.
Eleriff: Only the hug is from a female. *grins mischievously*
Eldra *slaps Eleriff*
Eleriff: Ow!
Gio: Sure.

Do you have any kids?
Eldra: No.
Daymond: No.
Eleriff: Not that I'm aware of.
Gio: Goodness, no! They're so hard to take care of, they're always crying for attention, and they eat everything!
Daymond: *smirks* Sounds just like you, Gio.
Gio: Hey!

Have you killed anyone?
Eldra: Yes.
Daymond: Are you kidding? I love the sound of cracking bones.
Eleriff: *stares at Daymond and gags* Are you serious?
Daymond: I'm not really one for jokes.
Eleriff: *turns green* I don't feel well.
Gio: Wimp. As for me, I have killed but it is not something I enjoy.

Love anyone?
Eldra: Love? That's a hard emotion to define. I'm not sure.
Daymond: I refuse to answer.
Eleriff: Yes.
Gio: Not at the moment.

What is your job?
Eldra: I have held several jobs: princess, ambassador, and... the rest is classified.
Gio: She's an IPSA agent, just as I am.
Eldra: *knocks Gio out*
Daymond: Inter-galactic assassin.
Eleriff: *shoots worried glances at the others* I'm a prince, but since I'm not in line for the throne, I don't act like one. I just live like one.

Favorite season?
Eldra: Spring. Not too hot, not too cold.
Daymond: Winter. I hate the heat.
Eleriff: My planet doesn't exactly have "seasons" but I would probably enjoy summer the most.
Gio: May I revive yet?
Eldra: No.
Gio: Shoot... I was going to say summer.

Who's your best friend?
Eldra: Definitely Malachi. We've been friends our entire lives. *glares at Gio* He isn't just my bodyguard, and you know it.
Daymond: I'm not allowed the luxury of friends.
Eleriff: Kandrid's King.
Gio: The King of Kandrid is your best friend?
Eleriff: He's my brother.
Gio: Oh. Stacilles is my best friend. Well, him or TRAV.

Hobbies?
Eldra: Reading.
Daymond: My job is my hobby.
Eleriff: *turns green twice over* Do you ever take a break, Daymond?
Daymond: No.
Eleriff: *sighs* Whatever. My hobbies are swimming and swordplay.
Gio: *flips hair to the side* Preening.
Daymond: *snorts*

What are you going to do when this tag is over?
Eldra: Prep for yet another mission.
Daymond: *glances at Eleriff* Whatever Morago commands.
Eleriff: *purposely ignores Daymond* Swim. Or flirt with the newest maid.
Gio: Style my hair. *fiddles with copper strands* This stylist didn't know what she was doing.

Okay... What is your eye color?
Eldra: Emerald green.
Daymond: My eyes change colors depending on my emotions, but they are naturally light gray.
Eleriff: *stare suspiciously at Daymond* Hmm. My eyes are the same as Daymonds... which is strange because only those with my family's blood in them have such an ability. *shrugs* My base color is copper.
Daymond: *ignores Eleriff*
Gio: Imagine the brightest blue you possibly can... My eyes are fifty times that color.

Are you good? Or bad?
Eldra: Both.
Daymond: Neither.
Eleriff: Evil barely seems to exist where I live, so I must be good.
Gio: Well, I would hope that I'm good!

What is your greatest fear?
Eldra: I refuse to answer this question unless Daymond is unconscious.
Daymond: Well that isn't happening.
Eldra: Then I'm not saying.
Daymond: It doesn't matter; I know it anyway. You're afraid of being weak in any way.
Eldra: *glares*
Daymond: And, to be fair, my greatest fear is that my entire life has been a lie.
Eleriff: Well, I fear something... less extreme. Personally, anything that disrupts my privileged life frightens me.
Gio: Fighting Daymond.

What do you think of your parents?
Eldra: They're nice, if a bit uptight and stuffy.
Daymond: I don't remember my mother, as she died when I was less than a year old, but my father is almost like an older brother to me.
Eleriff: They were wonderful people and rulers, until their untimely death.
Gio: Beautiful people. Where did you think I got my stunning good looks from?

Any siblings?
Eldra: No.
Daymond: Huh. No.
Eleriff: Yes, an older brother.
Gio: I come from a huge family that had ten children last time I checked, the oldest of which happens to be me. I got out of that situation as soon as I possibly could.

Was it fun to answer all these questions?
Eldra: Let's just say it's better than some other things I could be doing.
Daymond: Killjoy.
Eleriff: *sniffs* Killing again? You just can't get off the subject.
Gio: I love it! Keep asking them! Please!

Sure thing... Do you have any weaknesses?
Eldra: *snorts* Do you want me to list them alphabetically or in order of significance?
Eleriff: However you wish, my dear.
Eldra: Fine. Small, pointy objects, my pride, being around Daymond (not in the way that you think), any sort of drugs, anywhere with lot of electrical currents, bad boys. *blushes* Uh, yeah.
Daymond: *snickers* Bad boys? Like me?
Eldra: *mutters* Shut up.
Daymond: Like I thought. *smug grin* As for me: being around Eldra (once again, not in the way that you think), danger, my father.
Eleriff: Pretty women, mostly.
Gio: Goodness, I'm too perfect to have any weaknesses.

Your favorite element?
Eldra: Uhhhh, fire.
Daymond: Wind.
Eleriff: Water. Sometimes I wish that I could be a fish. *ducks head* Did I just say that?
Gio: Fire! *lights fireball*
Eldra: *dumps a bucket of water on Gio* No, Gio, you can't burn the building down. Again.

Do you care what others think of you?
Eldra: Hmmm. Depends on which roll I happen to be in. As an ambassador, I pretend to, but, in all honestly, I don't really care what others think.
Daymond: As long as the emotions displayed toward me aren't negative and/or hostile, I don't care.
Eleriff: As a prince, I am very aware of what is thought of me, so I act in exactly the way they don't want me to. *grin*
Gio: Only every waking moment.

Your theme song?
Eldra: My writer says I have several, but I don't know any of them. The music in her universe is different than mine.
Daymond: I am told one of mine is Thousand Foot Krutch's "Puppet".
Eleriff: Norm Strauss's "It's Not Safe Here Anymore".
Gio: Ummmm, I never thought about it before. Let's go with The Letter Black's "Fire With Fire", since I'm a bit of a pyro.

What's your species?
Eldra: Human, and I'll answer for Gio: vanity in human form.
Daymond: Human.
Eleriff: Human.
Gio: *glares at Eldra* Human I most certainly am.

Well, there you have it. If you actually read through the whole thing, you deserve a cookie:

There. Don't those look good? Now it's time for me to tag three others.

Excellent. Now I can take a break and go write something useful. Thanks for reading!

10 Things About Myself - A Tag

Oh no! I have been tagged by Ryebrynn, apparently as revenge for tagging her some time in the past. Actually, I've been looking for an excuse to blog, so I'm not mad.

1) Your hero
Hmm. Well, my hero is Jesus, but as far as "earthly" heroes go, I'm not sure. Kathy Tyers for sure.

2) Your favorite subject in school
Science and writing. (See, I'm meant to write science fiction!)

3) Your favorite animal
Horses -- especially Thoroughbreds and Arabians

4) Your favorite reptile
Uhhh, snakes, maybe? Not really big on the whole reptile thing.

5) Your number of dogs
None.

6) Your favorite movie(s)
TRON, TRON: Legacy, all three LOTR movies.

7) Are you an early bird or a bed bug?
Well, if we're talking early as in staying up past midnight, then I'm an early bird:)

8) When is your birthday?
Late April -- I got a gorgeous necklace, a massive Bible and the best email ever. Oh, and enough money for a 64GB iPod Touch. *explodes with happiness*

9) How many bathrooms does your house have?
Current house: two. Not nearly enough.

10) Have you ever been to Galveston, Texas?
No. Never even been to Texas.

And I tag... Squeaks, Leauphaun and Barriss.

Music Tag

This tag's been making its rounds the past week, and I think I've been tagged at least twice. So let's not keep the masses waiting. List 10 artists you love, in no particular order (before looking at the questions below).

1. RED
2. ForthAngel
3. Skillet
4. Bluetree
5. Demon Hunter
6. This Fires Embrace
7. Thousand Foot Krutch
8. Daft Punk
9. THE7METHOD
10. U2

1. What was the first song you ever heard by 6?
My Enemy, probably on one of the music podcasts I'm subscribed to.

2. What's your favorite song by 8?
Ohhh, that's hard. I think it would probably have to be The Game Has Changed.

3. What's the impact 1 has left on your life?
They've made me want to pick up the guitar. . .? *shrugs* My philosophical self is taking a break right now.

4. What is your favorite lyric of 5's?
There are too many to choose from, but here's three from the top of my head:
Let all the fear inside you drown / Tear out the blade and lay it down (Carry Me Down)
All the delicate ways that I've deepened our graves (One Thousand Apologies)
The same cycle ever-turning you is calling / It's calling / The scene is begging for a grave tonight / It always, it always will (Sixteen)

5. How many times have you seen 4 live?
Three times, all at YC Alberta 2010.

6. What is your favorite song of 7?
Are you kidding? TFK is too awesome to pick just one song!! Currently, it's All The Way Live.

7. Is there any song of 3 that makes you sad?
Of course. Imperfection. Always has, always will. But it's one of my "happy songs" too.

8. What's your favorite song by 9?
Depends. Sometimes it's Still Running, sometimes it's Dead Like Me.

9. How did you first get into 2?
Through the amazing podcast Anvil And The Hammer. Do not remain silent!

10. How did you first get into 3?
I've been listening to Skillet since before I even knew who they were. Their song Best Kept Secret is the first song I can remember hearing. The Christian radio station in Calgary featured them one time, and the rest is, as they say, history.

11. What is your favorite song by 4?
God Of This City.

12. How many times have you seen 9 live?
Never, and I fully regret not learning about them sooner. They aren't known as THE7METHOD any longer. In fact, I don't even know if they're still together.

13. What is a good memory concerning 10?
U2 always brings back good memories since I've been listening to them all my life, but I'd have to say long road trips. We always listen to music on long road trips, and U2 is something we listen to a lot.

14. Are there any songs from 8 that make you sad?
No. *pauses* Actually, yes. TRON: Legacy (End Titles). It means the movie is over. *sniff*

15. What is your favorite song of 1's?
Fight Inside. Wait. Right now, it's Let It Burn. (Check out Leauphaun's LOTR video to this song)

16. How did you become a fan of 10?
See question 13.

Folks, if you have read this, then you are tagged.

A Massive Writing Tag

This is supposed to be a novel tag, but I'm going to be using my short story, as that's in a better state of completion than my novel at the moment. I'm doing it super late, but I got it from Christian Miles at his blog Fiction Fire.

1. What’s your word count?
8,200

2. How long until you finish?
I'm about half way through right now, so I'd say another month or so until the first draft is complete.

3. If you have finished, how long did it take you?
See previous answer.

4. Do you have an outline?
I did, but then so many other ideas came to me that I threw it out the window.

5. Do you have a plot?
Here's hoping.

6. How many words do you typically write a day?
Eh, that varies. Anywhere from 50 to 1000, depending on what I'm writing.

7. What was your greatest word count in one day?
Just over 3,500

8. What was your least impressive word count in one day?
15. I wasn't proud of myself.

9. What inspired you to write?
Actually, I didn't get started by mere inspiration; my mom was sick and tired of me not working through the program we had, so she said I could write whatever I wanted. A bunch of very odd and hopefully not completely useless stories are the result.

10. Does your novel/story have a theme song?
Hmmm. My novel: Switchfoot's Meant To Live.
Short story: Closest thing I can come up with is Demon Hunter's Beauty Through The Eyes Of A Predator. That's more for the name than anything.

11. Assign each of your major characters a theme song.
Daymond - Ribcage or Beast Inside Of Me. Maybe Faceless.
Eldra - Atmosphere, Still Running, Feed The Machine.

12. Which character is most like you?
Eldra. Do I need a duh there?

13. Which character would you most likely be friends with?
Either Alax or Eleriff.

14. Do you have a Gary-Stu or Mary Sue character?
Gee, I hope not. I don't think so. . .

15. Who is your favorite character in your novel?
Eleriff or Daymond. I'm going to go with Daymond. He's fun to mess with, plus I always go for the bad boy.

16. Have your characters ever done something completely unexpected?
Yes.

17. Have you based any of your novel directly on personal experiences?
Not directly, but the undertones are there, I'm certain.

18. Do you believe in plot bunnies?
The ones that are always gnawing on my brain? Yeah, I do.

19. Is there magic in your novel/story?
As in spells or similar magic? No.

20. Are any holidays celebrated in your novel/story?
Not that I know of.

21. Does anyone die?
What a silly question. Yes.

22. How many cups of coffee/tea have you consumed during your writing experience?
I don't drink coffee, and I don't like tea. I drink water, and I drink a lot of it.

23. What is the latest you have stayed up writing?
3:30 am.

24. What is the best line?
Oh, I don't know.

25. What is the worst line?
*snort* Any of the lines that don't have all the words in them.

26. Have you dreamed about your novel/story or its characters?
Not that I can remember. . .

27. Does your novel rely heavily on allegory?
No.

28. Summarize your novel/story in under fifteen words.
Daymond must work with his arch-rival to save a massive space station from blowing up.

29. Do you love all your characters?
No. I like/love some, but I only sympathize with others.

30. Have you done something sadistic or cruel to your characters specifically to increase your word count?
Only every day. My word count would never go up if I didn't.

31. What was the last thing your main character ate?
No clue. I don't think Daymond needs to eat.

32. Describe your main character in three words.
Honorable. Deadly. Bad-boy.

33. What would your antagonist dress up as for Halloween?
Himself -- or the hologram of himself.

34. Does anyone in your story go to a place of worship?
No.

35. How many romantic relationships take place in your novel/story?
One and a half. . .?

36. Are there any explosions in your novel/story?
Novel - Yes.
Short story - Not yet.

37. Is there an apocalypse in your novel/story?
Not in the true sense of the word, no.

38. Does your novel take place in a post-apocalyptic world?
No.

39. Are there zombies, vampires or werewolves in your novel/story?
Not a chance.

40. Are there witches, wizards or mythological creatures/figures in your novel/story?
No.

41. Is anyone reincarnated?
No.

42. Is anyone physically ailed?
Yes.

43. Is anyone mentally ill?
Uh, no.

44. Does anyone have swine flu?
What?

45. Who has pets in your novel and what are they?
Uhhh, no pets that come to mind.

46. Are there angels, demons, or any religious references/figures in your novel/story?
No.

47. How about political figures? Are there political figures in my book?
Yes.

48. Is there incessant drinking?
That's a weird question. No.

49. Are there board games? If so, which ones?
Saving the galaxy takes too much time for my characters to play board games.

50. Are there any dream sequences?
Too many.

51. Is there humor?
My mom sure seems to think so. . .

52. Is there tragedy?
Too much.

53. Does anyone have a temper tantrum?
No hissy-fits, if that's what you're thinking.

54. How many characters end up single at the end of your novel/story?
No one is married at the beginning, and I doubt anyone's going to get married at the end. That could change, however.

55. Is anyone in your novel/story adopted?
No.

56. Does anyone in your novel/story wear glasses?
No.

57. Has your novel/story provided insight about your life?
Uhhh. . .

58. Your personality?
On occasion.

59. Has your novel/story inspired anyone?
Not sure.

60. How many people have asked to read your novel/story?
Maybe three or four.

61. Have you drawn any of your characters?
No.

62. Has anyone drawn your characters for you?
Heck, yes.

63. Does anyone vomit in your novel/story?
No.

64. Does anyone bleed in your novel/story?
Rivers.

65. Do any of your characters watch TV?
What's a TV? I play with holograms.

66. What size shoe does your main character wear?
I never asked Eldra, and Daymond refuses to tell me.

67. Do any of the characters in your novel/story use a computer?
If you could call it that, then yes.

68. How would you react if your novel/story was erased entirely?
I'd probably beat myself upside the head for not backing it up in enough places.

69. Did you cry at killing off any of your characters?
No. I did struggle with a nasty bout of depression one time, though.

70. Did you cheer when killing off one of your characters?
No. I'd begin to worry about myself if I did that.

71. What advice would you give to a fellow writer?
Find someone who loves writing as much as you. It really helps to have someone you talk your ideas through with.

72. Describe your ending in three words.
Three? Oh, boy. Daymond flies off.
That doesn't make any sense.

73. Are there any love triangles, squares, hexagons, etc.?
Not yet.

74. On a scale of 1-10 (1 being the least stressful, 10 being the most) how does your stress rank?
Every day is different. Currently, I'd say 3.

75. Was it worth it?
I sure hope so.

I tag anyone with the guts to even attempt this massive tag. Comment with a link to your post if you choose to do it.
