Salute to A Great Company

If you are living in New York, you have probably noticed the posters on nearly every phone booth in Manhattan urging a boycott of the already unpopular horse-drawn carriages. The cruel practice, supported almost entirely by foreign tourists and not natives to the city, is being brought to attention. While PETA and ''Glee' are running the adds, no surprise there, they are really thanks to the commitment of another company. Manhattan Mini-Storage, has donated $125,000 worth of ad space on venues like bus kiosks for the campaign.
And for those of you who follow, MMS, there is no real surprise there either. This is another wonderful political stance being taken by a company committed to progressive politics and justice. They have featured ads poking fun at Sarah Palin, sticking up for gay rights and their absolute favorite, supporting reproductive women's rights over and over again.
So now they are taking a stance in support of Animal Welfare. While Mayor Bloomberg, in his third term, has become a incredibly unpopular mayor over a dreadful response to snowfall, an assault on street artists and a hardline stance against the right to be homeless or access rent control, supports horse-drawn carriages. You would think, with that 37% approval rating, he would be with the people on this one. Commerce is no excuse for slavery, Mr. Mayor and might doesn't make right.
