Alaska Airlines has expanded its in-flight Wi-Fi, and it's currently presented to passengers flying between Southeast Alaska and Anchorage and Fairbanks.
That creates onboard Internet service available nearly statewide on its Alaskan routes, the airline said Friday.
Alaska's GoGo Internet access at present is free for travelers — about 70 percent of the carrier's planes are equipped for Wi-Fi — in Alaska and the Lower 48, through Dec. 9.
After Dec. 9, web access aboard Alaska Airlines will cost $4.95 and up, based on the flight's length and the device used.
Other airlines are offering free Wi-Fi throughout the holiday season as well as Virgin America. On-board Internet is free currently on all Virgin America flights through Jan. 2, 2011.
